Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus an Italian explorer, navigator, colonizer wasborn at Genoa (Italy). Under the sponsorships of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, he completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean….
Christopher Columbus believed that one can never cross the ocean until one has courage to lose sight of the shore. His arduous long sea voyages were made possible due to his nerves of steel. His ascendant lord Saturn occupies the sign Virgo of Mercury and the later occupies the sign Scorpio of Mars. Mercury signifies nerves and nervous strength and its association with Mars gave him nerves of steel.
As Mercury occupies the 11th house of achievements and there is a sign exchange between the 9th house of luck and the 11th house, he was successful in his expeditions.
Inspiration for Long Voyages
In a birth chart the 9th house signifies long journeys. In his birth chart the 9th house is over activated due to presence of four relevant planets viz. Saturn, Venus, Moon and Mars.
He was a Poor Administrator
In his birth chart Jupiter is debilitated and falls in the constellation (Nakshatra) of debilitated Sun which occupies his 10th house of action. Because of this debilitation of Jupiter and Sun he was accused of mismanagement during his expeditions.
He Suffered from Poor Health
Columbus suffered from poor health as his ascendant is occupied by debilitated Jupiter which is conjunct Rahu forming an inauspicious Yoga (combination). Also his Sun, which signifies health, is debilitated.
Died as a Wealthy, but Disappointed Person
He died on 20 May 1506 during the sub-period of Mercury in the main period of Saturn.
In his birth chart the ascendant lord Saturn as well as Venus occupying the 9th house of luck forms an auspicious Yoga, which gave him wealth. But Saturn falling in the constellation of Mars gave him lifelong disappointments and sorrows.
