Tulsi Vivah
The Tulsi Vivah is celebrated on the Ekadashi of the Kartik Krishna Paksha and this year it is on 11th November, 2016.
How to celebrate Tulsi Vivah?
On this day people are arranging the marriage ceremony of Tulsi with Shaligram. Some people are doing this on a grand scale and arranging proper marriage of Shaligram with Tulsi.
Generally,people are wrapping the Tulsi pot with the sari and decorating the pot with the ocher (Geru), making the canopy by sugar cane, putting stole and other wedding accessories like bangle etc. to the pot. They are worshiping the Lord Ganesha first and then Lord Shaligram is worshiped properly with shodoshopchar. Thereafter, worshiping Tulsi with the “Tulsyaye Namah” mantra. After worshiping, people are taking a coconut with the alms in hand for the Teeka and then by taking up the the Shaligram and Tulsi they are taking seven rounds (fere) of the fire and completing the marriage ceremony of Tulsi and Shaligram.
The other marriage rituals are also followed as same as in other marriages. The ladies are singing the marriage songs and celebrating this festival with full of enthusiasm.
