Hariyali Teej 2014
Hariyali Teej is celebrated on the third day of the shrawan shukla paksha. This year it is on 7th August, 2024.This festival is celebrated in the memory of the union of Goddess Parvati with Lord Shiva. This festival is known as Hariyali Teej in Western India. However, it is also famous as ‘Madhushrava Teej‘.
On this day, married ladies are worshiping Goddess Parvati. Newly married ladies are celebrating their first Hariyali-Teej at their parent’s house. The fast is observed on this day and ladies are wearing make up.
In Rajasthan, married ladies are wearing sarees/odhani called laharia. They are also wearing mehandi on their hands. The special dishes are made for this festival season.
In this month ladies/girls are singing while swinging. Ghoomar, the special dance of Rajasthan is being played in the month of Shrawan (Sawaan).
