Exalted Planets in a Birth Chart …
Presence of exalted planets in a birth chart adds to the strength of a chart and in particular the areas or aspects represented by the houses of its lordship and the one in which it falls. All the nine planets have been assigned zodiac signs in which the planet becomes exalted. By exaltation means the planet is most auspicious and powerful. But a planet excluding Rahu and Ketu is at its peak of exaltation only at certain degrees in its sign of exaltation.
Farther the planet, degree wise, from its peak point of exaltation the lesser the benefic results. So while analysing a chart considers the degree wise position of the exalted planets. The table below gives peak point of exaltation for each planet:
Planet | Sign of Exaltation | Peak Point of Exaltation |
---|---|---|
Su | Aries | 10 Degree Aries |
Mo | Taurus | 3 Degree Taurus |
Ma | Capricorn | 28 Degree Capricorn |
Me | Virgo | 15 Degree Virgo |

Debilitated Planets in a Birth Chart …
Presence of debilitated planets in a birth chart lowers the strength of a chart and in particular the areas or aspects represented by the houses of its lordship and the one in which it falls. All the nine planets have been assigned zodiac signs in which the planet becomes debilitated. By debilitation means the planet is most malefic and weak. But a planet excluding Rahu and Ketu is at its point of deep debilitation only at certain degrees in its sign of debilitation.
In a birth chart farther the planet, degree wise, from its point of deep debilitation the lesser the malefic results. So while analysing a chart considers the degree wise position of the debilitated planets. The table below gives point of deep debilitation for each planet:
Planet | Sign of Debilitation | Point of Deep Debilitation |

Yogakaraka Planets …
Out of the nine planets of Vedic astrology seven planets, excluding the two luminaries viz. the Sun and the Moon, have been assigned lordship of two signs each. If in a birth chart any of the dual lordship planet governs a square as well as a trine house then it is labelled as a Yogakaraka planet. This required condition is possible in the birth charts of Taurus, Cancer, Leo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius ascendant signs.
A Yogakaraka planet is very auspicious and has great probability of giving favourable results during its periods.
The following table lists the Yogakaraka planets for all the above mentioned six ascendant signs.
