Well the ultimate in accuracy and reliability can be based upon a complete Vedic horoscope which takes into consideration the accurate birth data viz. the date, time and place of a native.
But this methodology does not allow giving general predictions suiting all.
How the Sun sign Predictions can be improved? …
In Vedic astrology the natal Moon is given more importance than the natal Sun. In the outer world or cosmos the Sun being the center of the Solar system represents the core personality of a native in terms of astrology. But we know through life experiences that mind rules over matter. Our Rishis having realized the powers of human mind gave much importance to the role of the Moon which represents mind.
So if in the Sun signs we also take in consideration the position of Moon then predictions based upon both the luminaries will become more reliable. During a period of about one month when the sun is in a particular sign the Moon moving through all the signs making one complete round of the Zodiac. So each Sun sign will have twelve variations which can be distinguished by numbers.
Just for Illustration …
Just for illustrating the above concept consider the Aries Sun sign. While the Sun remains in the Aries sign from 21st March to 20th April we will have twelve Aries variations such as:
Aries-1: The Sun and the Moon both in Aries
Aries-2: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Taurus
Aries-3: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Gemini
Aries-4: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Cancer
Aries-5: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Leo
Aries-6: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Virgo
Aries-7: The Sun in Aries and the moon in Libra
Aries-8: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Scorpio
Aries-9: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Sagittarius
Aries-10: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Capricorn
Aries-11: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Aquarius
Aries-12: The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Pisces
The same will apply to other Sun signs.
So two persons born during 21st March to 20th April will have the same Aries Sun sign as per the normal Sun sign concept. But depending upon their dates of birth will have different Aries variation. Just to clarify this point suppose one person was born on 5th April 1987 then his or her Sun sign will be Aries-4, since on that day the Moon was in Cancer. The other person born on 15th April 1987 will have his or her Sun sign as Aries-8, since on that date the Moon was in Scorpio.
Now the two Arians have different characteristics, the Aries-4 will be more peaceful and non-impulsive as compared to Aries-8.
How the Predictions will be deciphered? …
To judge how the things will go on a particular day, in addition to the position of the Sun take into consideration the position of the Moon relative to the position of Moon on your birth day. Poisons of the Moon at 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th and 10th places from natal Moon will befavorable whereas the Moon at 6th, 8th and 12th places will be unfavourable.
