By a little care you can easily balance the Yang energy of hot summers with cooling Yin energy.
Use Plants and Water Falls
You can balance the hot ‘Yang’ energy in the environment during hot summers by generating more of cool ‘Yin’ energy in your premises. Plants with broad green leaves such as Colocasia plant or Elephant Ear plant if kept as potted plants in shades inside the premises fill the environment with ‘Yin’ energy.
Place an electrically operated water fall or fountain in the southeast corner of your room.
Eat more of ‘Yin’ foods
Stay away from deep fried and junk foods which are rich in ‘Yang’ energy. Eat more of green leafy vegetables, cucumbers, and watermelons. Lettuces of every kind as well as vegetables like Chinese cabbage, Bok Choy, broccoli, cucumber and cauliflower balance yang heat in the body. Fruits filled with antioxidants help your body adjust its temperature and help it cleanse. Adding lemon juice to your water each day will help you stay cool and hydrated.
In case you like non-vegetarian foods then fish and seafood are cooling while most other meats are full of hot ‘Yang’ energy.
‘Yin’ Rich Milk Drink
Take about 50 ml of cooled down boiled milk in a glass and add to it about 100 ml of cold water and drink it after about two hours of each meal. This drink is full of cooling Yin energy.
Afternoon Nap is cooling
Having a short nap in a cool shady place after lunch helps in getting rid of Yang and fills the body with cool yin energy.
After your meal lie down on your left side for at least ten to fifteen minutes, this will aid digestion and thereby reduction of Yang energy in the body.
‘Yin’ Generating Pranayama
Sit comfortable in an easy posture with your spine erect. Take a deep and smooth breath through your nostrils. Hold it for a second and then very slowly exhale through your mouth over a longer period. Take it easy, do not strain and repeat this pranayama for about five to ten minutes. You will feel cool due to Yin energy generated in your body.
