There is an ancient science of hand gestures utilizing fingers and thumb which are supposed to direct subtle energies in the body. The Prana Mudra as described in this article is believed to stimulate the root Chakra (Mooladhar Spiritual centre).
The Sanskrit word Mudra means a ‘mark’ or ‘gesture’. Various hand Mudras are used during meditation, pranayama (breathing exercises) or Tantric practices.

How to Perform Prana Mudra? …
Step1: Sit comfortably in an easy pose on the floor or on a chair and breath normally.
Step2: Touch the tips of ring finger and little finger to the tip of your thumb on each hand. The remaining fingers viz. the index and middle fingers should be pointed straight outward as shown in the sketch-A. The sketch-B further clarifies it as viewed from a different angle.
Keep your eyes lightly closed, breath normally and focus your attention on your breath. Visualize the subtle Pranic energy entering your body and circulating freely.
Enjoy sitting in this posture for a couple of minutes or as long as you wish.
